Drawing

Drawing is an artistic way of transfering an image onto a meduim such as paper through the use of pencil or other medium. Some people can draw naturally while others need to work and practice at drawing. Drawing can be as simple as putting pencil to paper or as complicated as using paints, charcoals, oil pastels, markers, crayons, wax color pencils, and so on. There are many techniques to drawing.

What do I need to take up drawing?

To draw as an art, you need to have a sketchbook or other drawing paper suitable for the type of drawing you are going to attempt. Then you need drawing pencils or any other types of color that you want to draw with such as oil pastels, crayons, and charcoal. You will also need an eraser to erase your drawing mistakes. If you are drawing for the first time, don’t worry if you make lots of mistakes – you can always erase them. Then you may also need Indian inks and a pen or brush to finish your drawing.

Cross-Stitching

What is Cross-Stitching?

Cross-stitching involves the hand-sewing art using embroidery thread and special fabric with small squares.

How to cross stitch?

Two stitches in each square are sewn diagonally to form an x shape. The x’s are clustered to create shapes and designs, with different colors of embroidery thread. With cross-stitching, one can create pictures to be framed or decorative pillow cases. Cross-stitching and embroidery together are relatively old arts; in the 19th century young girls displayed their abilities with a needle through creating samplers–patterns, alphabets, and so forth. Cross-stitching has also been used to enhance linens of various sorts—hand towels, pillow cases, table runners, and table cloths.
